Why the price is set per address

Miami-Dade requires 175 mph and Broward 170 mph, Exposure C, and every garage door in both counties needs the large missile impact rating. What a door actually has to resist is a design pressure in pounds per square foot, which depends on the width and height of the opening, the height of the roof and the exposure of the house. Approval is granted per model and per size, so a door approved at one width is not automatically approved at another. Our hurricane garage doors guide has the pressure tables and what impact approval means explains the paperwork.

What is included

  • Free measure and a written quote naming the door and its product approval.
  • The permit package and the permit pulled by us. The city fee is passed through at cost; see garage door permit cost by city.

Brands we install

Authorized dealer for Clopay, Amarr, Haas and Raynor. Amarr's Heritage and Northwoods carry approvals up to 190 mph, which is why they show up on many Miami-Dade quotes. See garage doors for models and starting prices, and the installation guide for the steps.

FAQ

Hurricane rated garage door cost: questions and answers

How much does a hurricane rated garage door cost in Miami?

At CMC Door Service a hurricane impact rated garage door with a Miami-Dade approval starts at $2,250 installed for a one car opening and $3,700 for a two car opening. Insulated steel impact doors start at $2,750. The final price depends on the design pressure at your address, the exact size of the opening, the model and the options.

Do I need a hurricane rated garage door in Miami-Dade?

Yes, for any new or replacement garage door. Miami-Dade and Broward are in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. Miami-Dade requires 175 mph and Broward 170 mph, Exposure C, and both require the large missile impact rating on every garage door, with or without windows.

Does the price include the permit?

We pull the permit and prepare the package with the product approval for the door. The city or county permit fee is passed through at cost and varies by city; our permit cost page lists the fee for each city we serve, read from the cities' own fee schedules.

What makes a hurricane garage door cost more?

A wider or taller opening, a higher design pressure (for example near the coast or on a taller house), insulation, windows with impact glass, full view aluminium and glass designs, and a heavier door that needs a wall mount opener. A wall mount LiftMaster 98022 for heavy impact doors is $1,619 installed.

Can I finance a hurricane garage door?

Yes. CMC Door Service offers financing through Wisetack on projects from $500, with a soft credit check that does not affect your score. As a guide, a $2,250 door is about $104 a month on Wisetack's example basis of 24 months at 9.9% APR. Approved customers see the exact monthly payment and total cost before choosing a plan.

Does a hurricane rated garage door lower insurance?

A door with a current impact approval can count toward the opening protection credit on a wind mitigation inspection. Ask your insurer or inspector what credit applies to your policy.

How long does it take to get a hurricane garage door installed?

The door is ordered after a free measure, then the permit is filed. Lead time depends on the manufacturer and the model; we give the lead time on the quote. The installation itself is usually done in one day.
