How the number is worked out
The calculator uses the method the Florida Building Code points to for garage doors: ASCE 7-22 components and cladding pressures for walls, on an enclosed building. It takes the design wind speed for your county, the exposure, the roof height, the door's area and whether it sits near a corner, then converts the result to the allowable stress design pressure that door approvals are rated in.
Each door on the list is matched on two things: an NOA rated at or above both the positive and the negative pressure, and a size in that approval at least as wide and as tall as your opening. The price shown is our installed price for that door size.
This is an estimate to help you shop. The pressure on your permit comes from your plans or a wind load chart for your house, and we confirm it and the NOA at a free measure before anything is ordered. NOA links open the county's own PDF.
