Amarr's double layer doors (Classica, Hillcrest, Lincoln, Heritage) are R-6.64 and its Designer's Choice and Olympus reach R-19.40.

A 16x8 is a double-car opening, so it is priced off the 16-foot rows, not the single-car ones. Installed prices from our verified hurricane impact rated catalog: the Clopay Value Series model 94 is $4,650 at 16x8 and $3,900 at 16x7, and the Haas 2400 series is $4,050 at 16x8. Single-car widths start a good deal lower, from $2,400 for a Value Series at 9x7. In Miami-Dade the wind rating moves the price more than the brand does, and the exact figure follows a free on-site measure, in writing.
Installed starting prices from the same hurricane rated catalog: the Clopay Classic in insulated steel with a 2 inch polystyrene core (R 9.0) from $2,600; the Haas 600 series with a 1-3/8 inch polyurethane core and a thermal break from $3,200; and the insulated steel Coachman from $6,600. Insulated and non-insulated doors are separate models in our catalogue, each with its own installed price, so the difference is whatever those two doors cost rather than a flat adder. Insulation helps most if the garage is attached, air-conditioned, or used as a workshop or gym. It also stiffens the door and cuts noise. For a detached, unconditioned garage the payback is smaller.
