Corinto, or the Puerto Cortes route

The Nicaragua lane we quote is Corinto, the country's main port on the Pacific coast, with no minimum ocean charge. Many forwarders serving Managua instead land the cargo at Puerto Cortes in Honduras and truck it south, which can be quicker from Miami than a Pacific sailing.
Tell us which route your forwarder uses. The crates, the export filing and the paperwork are the same either way; only the ocean leg on your quote changes.
What your written quote covers
One written quote for Nicaragua, in US dollars: the doors, crating in Miami, delivery to your forwarder and ocean freight to Corinto. Duty, taxes and customs at destination are yours. The crate sizes, the terms and every port we quote are on the export page.
Every order is screened before it ships

US export rules apply to everything we ship, to every country. Before an order is booked we check the buyer and the consignee against the US government's screening lists, which name specific people and companies in Nicaragua among many other countries.
For an ordinary business or homeowner this is a formality that takes minutes. Put the full legal name and address of the buyer and the consignee on the request and it will not hold anything up.
The Caribbean coast takes the hurricanes

Hurricanes Eta and Iota both made landfall on Nicaragua's northern Caribbean coast in November 2020, two weeks apart. For a building on that side of the country, a wind rated door with its product approval documents is worth pricing next to a standard one.
In Managua and on the Pacific side the structural question is more often seismic. Send the rough opening, the headroom and the side room, and the design pressure if your engineer gives one, and we match the door.
What you handle in Nicaragua
Import duty, IVA, customs clearance and delivery from the port are yours, and the Dirección General de Servicios Aduaneros (DGA) clears the goods. The amounts depend on how the goods are classified and on their origin, so confirm them with your customs agent before you order.
We supply the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. Quotes and invoices are in US dollars, and you can deal with us in Spanish throughout.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship garage doors to Nicaragua?
Yes, to Corinto, or to Puerto Cortes in Honduras if your forwarder trucks the cargo to Managua from there. We crate the doors in Miami and deliver them to your forwarder (FCA Miami). The written quote comes by email within one business day, or right away when the doors are in our price book.
Why do you ask for the buyer's full legal name?
Because every export order is screened against US government lists before it ships. With the full name and address of the buyer and consignee on the request, the check takes minutes and does not delay the order.
Can you ship commercial operators to Nicaragua?
Yes. Jackshaft, trolley and hoist operators for sectional and rolling doors ship on a pallet with the doors. Tell us the door size, how often it cycles and the power available at the site.
Who pays import duty in Nicaragua?
The buyer. Duty, taxes and clearance at destination are outside our quote, so confirm the amount with your customs agent before you order.
