What we ship to Trinidad and Tobago

Walnut woodgrain raised panel double car garage door set into a turquoise painted wall

Sectional garage doors for homes, in stock sizes or made to your opening, insulated or single skin. Rolling steel roll up doors and security grilles for shops, warehouses and plants. Residential garage door openers, commercial door operators and gate operators with their control gear. The doors are the brands we fit at home in Miami: Clopay, Amarr, Haas and Raynor, with LiftMaster openers and gate operators.

Everything is supply only, and your own installer fits it. We sell the gate operators, not the gates.

Your written quote

What your written quote covers

One written quote for Trinidad and Tobago, in US dollars: the doors, crating in Miami, delivery to your forwarder and ocean freight to Port of Spain. Duty, taxes and customs at destination are yours. The crate sizes, the terms and every port we quote are on the export page.

Port of Spain, and sites near Point Lisas or in Tobago

Port of Spain is the Trinidad and Tobago lane we quote. Freight is worked out per revenue ton (one cubic meter or 1,000 kg, whichever is greater) for the crates your doors need, it shows on your written quote next to the doors and the crating, and we confirm the forwarder's rate before booking.

If your forwarder lands the cargo at Point Lisas instead, for a site in central or south Trinidad, tell us on the request: the crates and the paperwork are the same. For a site in Tobago, your forwarder or broker arranges the onward leg from Trinidad, so name the island on the request and we mark the crates for it.

Duty and clearance at your end

Import duty, VAT, customs clearance and delivery from the port to the site are yours. The Customs and Excise Division assesses them when the goods land. The amounts depend on how the goods are classified and valued, so ask your customs broker for the figure before you order, not after the crates arrive.

We supply the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin your broker files with, and the Florida product approval documents for any wind rated model.

Wind rated doors, when the site needs one

Trinidad sits at the southern edge of the Atlantic hurricane belt and is rarely struck, though Hurricane Flora hit Tobago hard in 1963. For most sites a wind rated door is a choice, not a given. It has heavier sections, takes a bigger crate and costs more to ship.

If your engineer has specified a design pressure, send the figure with the sizes and we match a model to it. If not, ask for a standard and a wind rated door on the same request and the quote shows the difference.

Openers and parts

Openers, remotes, commercial operators and gate operators ride on a pallet in the same shipment as the doors, so the door and its motor arrive together.

Doors already installed need parts too. Torsion springs, cables, rollers and opener parts ship with an order or on their own; send the door size and the spring measurements or the opener model and we match the parts before we quote.

Wind approval paperwork

Approval documents ship with every impact door

Every wind rated and impact rated door we ship to Trinidad and Tobago goes out with its Florida product approval documents and its design pressure rating, ready for your engineer or plan reviewer. They are the same Miami-Dade approved impact doors we install at home in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. Whether a Florida approval is accepted at destination is up to your building authority, so ask before you order.
