What approval does a garage door need in Florida?
Under Florida Building Commission Rule 61G20-3, exterior doors are one of the product categories approved for statewide use by the Commission, or approved locally, and the approved products are listed on floridabuilding.org. The doors we install at home in Miami-Dade and Broward carry Miami-Dade Notices of Acceptance for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, and they ship with that paperwork and their design pressure rating.
Outside the HVHZ your county or city building department sets the design pressure for your opening and decides what approval it accepts. Ask them before you order, and send us the pressure with your sizes.

Why does CMC ship instead of install in Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville?
We install in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe County, where our crew and our permits are. North of there, and across the Panhandle, we supply the door and your own installer fits it. You still get the same doors, the same approval paperwork and one written quote with the freight.

My Safe Florida Home is the state program that offers wind mitigation inspections and grants toward improvements, and a wind and impact rated garage door is one of the improvements it covers. The program sets its own eligibility and funding rounds, so check it at mysafeflhome.com before you sign for a door.
How does a freight quote work?
1. Measure
Send the width and height of each opening, the headroom and side room, and whether you want a wind rated or a standard door. A photo of the opening helps.
2. Written quote
We price the doors, the crating and the truck freight to your ZIP on one written quote. The written quote comes by email within one business day, or right away when the doors are in our price book.
3. Crated and shipped
When you approve it, the doors are pulled from stock or made to order, crated on a pallet and sent by LTL freight to your address, or to the carrier's terminal near you if you would rather collect. A big project can go as a full truckload.
4. You or your installer fit it
The door arrives with its hardware and installation instructions, and the wind paperwork when it is rated. Your own installer fits it. We install only in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe County.
Which openers and accessories can I buy online and have shipped?
These can be bought online: the supply price plus shipping to your zone, from each one's shop page. Doors cannot; they are quoted first. We do not ship online to Alaska, Hawaii or territories.
