What actually drives the price in South Florida
The Avante line is an aluminium frame carrying full-height glass, and what changes the cost here isn't just the door itself. It is what Miami-Dade and Broward require to hang it. Homes in the wind zone need doors and tracks rated and installed to meet local code, and that hardware costs more than a standard inland install. Add to that our climate: heat cycles panels and finishes faster than up north, salt air off the coast eats at unprotected fasteners and hinges, and humidity swells wood jambs the door has to seal against. All of that gets factored into a legitimate quote. A price pulled off a national website usually doesn't account for any of it.

When it's safe to DIY and when it isn't
Swapping weatherstripping, tightening loose hinges, lubricating rollers, or replacing a bottom seal are all fine for a homeowner with basic tools and some patience.
